We work mainly with
disabled children (e.g. with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy etc.).
Besides the dog therapy
itself, Dogtor Foundation provides specialist training for dogs and for people
in regard to dog therapy, as well as a dog obedience school. The Foundation also
provides educational activities for children of different age groups, teaching
the correct and safe behaviour with dogs and respect for animals All the activities take place in schools, kindergartens, homes for
children, hospitals and other special institutions, as well as at the Dogtor Foundation’s
headquarter in Gdynia.
Description of the
activity:
We are looking for a volunteers to help us to makeover the dog’s training area.
The square is a place where therapy dogs from the Foundation are trained and
various dog skills can be practised, (e.g. basic obedience, sniffer work). We
would like to use volunteers help in cleaning and painting this area, but also
to build jumping obstacles for dogs, create place to rest and integrate and construct secions for individual dog activities (e.g. sensory path for
puppies).
Who can apply?
Youth
age 18-30 years old with a friendly attitude towards dogs. :) We especially welcome applicants that accept working physically around the dog's training area. Also we invite young people who
feel good working as a part of the team. Activity is designed for 10-12 of volunteers from all over the Europe. Additionaly volunteers are welcome to contribute with one’s own creativity.
